(Notre Dame, IN) Athletic Director Nathan Walker has announced the hiring of Christina Thompson as the head coach for the Saints cheerleading program. Thompson brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the Saints.
Thompson began cheerleading from an early age. She earned co-captain honors while attending Pawnee High School (Pawnee, Ill.), and captain at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. The time spent at MacMurray helped her to gain experience in recruiting, managing, and organizing a college program.
"Coach Thompson will be a valuable asset to the athletic department," said Walker. "Her experience and professionalism will bring a fresh look to the cheerleading program."
The Holy Cross College Cheerleading squad was founded in 2005 by Kate Palmer. It consisted of nine women and three men who worked together to establish the rules, regulations, and organizational set-up of the program.
