(NOTRE DAME, Ind.) Head coach Aimee Niespodziany and the Holy Cross women's basketball program are pleased to announce that Tagin Schultheis has signed her letter of intent to play for the Saints. Schultheis becomes the first recruit in the class of 2014 to sign with the Saints.

A three-sport athlete from Mishawaka High School, Tagin has earned eight varsity letters in basketball, soccer and tennis. In addition to being a three-sport letter winner, Schultheis has also been a scholar athlete in all three sports.

Tagin is a two year starter for the Mishawaka High School varsity women's basketball team where she helped guide the team to a 21-4 mark during her junior season.  She also led her Northstars travel team to a state runner-up finish at the GRBA state tournament in Fort Wayne. The Northstars also finished in first place at the Hardwood Classic at Merrillville Fieldhouse. Tagin averaged 14 points and 4 assists per game for the Northstars.

A three time AYBT national three-point contest champion (2008-2010), Tagin is also a Knights of Columbus free-throw champion.

Outside of basketball, Tagin competed as the number two singles in tennis and was a second team ALL-NIC in soccer. She is also a member of the "Stay Inbounds" program where she mentors youths on making good decisions and staying active in school. Schultheis also volunteers at both youth basketball and soccer camps.

Schultheis will join Mishawaka High School teammate Shelby Nelson as the second player from Mishawaka to sign with the Saints under coach Niespodziany.

The daughter of Thomas and Trina Jo Schultheis, Tagin has not declared a major at this time.
