Head Coach Bill Schmatz enters his second season at the helm of the Holy Cross Hockey program. In his first year as head coach, Schmatz helped lead the Saints to their best finish in program history with a 21 - 8 overall record.

Schmatz spent 8 years in various coaching positions before Holy Cross including travel, select and house league teams in the area. Coach Schmatz also spent 4 years as an assistant coach at St. Joe High School (South Bend, IN.). Originally from Dunkirk, NY, he moved to Mishawaka and graduated from Penn High School.

Coach Schmatz earned his degree in Business Management at the University of Dayton in 1984. He currently lives in South Bend with his wife Patti, sons Tyler and Conner and daughter Kelli.
