Coach Lyons enters his first season as the head coach of the Saints after completing his first year as an assistant in 2012.
Prior to joining the Saints, Coach Lyons spent the majority of the past seven seasons as the head coach of the Valparaiso Hockey Club where he played an instrumental role in taking the program from a recreational style club to a program that is well respected throughout the state. While involved with the Valpo Hockey Club, T.J. has been has proven to be an exceptional coach, leader and teacher according to his peers. Along with his coaching duties with Valpo, T.J. spent two seasons coaching Team Michiana from 2006-2008 which is comprised of the top players in the area.
Prior to his involvement with the Valpo Hockey Club, Coach Lyons spent two years (2002-2004) with the Buffalo Rink Rats in Grand Island, New York where he was the coach of an elite summer tournament team. These teams had players from all over the country and would compete with the best 10-14 year olds across Canada in the summertime.
From 1994-2004, Coach Lyons worked with the Buffalo Regals in their "learn to skate" program and served as a head coach for the house league, select teams and the AAA travel hockey teams. The Buffalo Regals are one of the oldest and most respected organizations and have produced such star players as Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks.
A 1980 graduate of Depew High School in Depew, New York, Coach Lyons also serves as the Vice President at Ficel Transport. He currently resides in Valparaiso, Ind. with his wife Peggy, and is father to son Tommy (Holy Cross) and daughters Jenn (Purdue University) and Brooke (Valparaiso High School).
