Katelyn Palmer founded and coached the HCC Cheerleading squad in 2005 when she was a junior. "I wanted to start a cheerleading squad because there were so few athletic opportunities for women on campus," said Coach Palmer when asked about the program. "She was a natural fit for the cheerleading program," says Athletic Director Nathan Walker, "as a former cheerleader and coach I felt she could lead the squad to great things."
Coach Palmer started coaching pee wee cheerleading while a freshman in high school. She also coached a 5th - 8th grade competitive squad in high school and through college. The squad has grown exponentially in her four years as coach and she hopes to take them to competition in the near future.
A 2007 graduate of Holy Cross College, Coach Palmer earned her B.A. in Liberal Studies. In addition to her coaching responsibilities she also works at the Community Relations Specialist for the college.
