Bob Schermerhorn - Head Coach - 1st Season
The Holy Cross men's basketball program will have a new face on the sidelines for the 2010-11 basketball season. Head Coach Bob Schermerhorn takes over the Saints as they enter their third year in the NAIA.
 
A graduate of South Bend Central High School, Bob left town after graduation in the 60's to become a Marine and serve his country in the Vietnam War.  When he returned stateside he settled in Southern California where he earned his Associates Degree at Orange Coast College and acted as assistant basketball coach.  Since then he completed a Bachelors degree at Long Beach State and a Masters degree at Pepperdine University.
 
Coach "Horn" has been a winner at every level, coaching basketball from high school to NCAA Division I, including a term as head coach at Arizona State University.  During his tenure, the Sun Devils upset both UCLA and the University of Oregon.  Returning to Southern California, Schermerhorn coached Riverside Community College to nine consecutive playoff appearances. 
 
Schermerhorn was selected State Coach of the Year in 1996 and Orange Empire Coach of the Year in 1994 and 1996. He has since coached at Fullerton College and Santa Ana College where he was also Associate Dean of Exercise Science.  In 2003, Coach "Horn" was enshrined in the California Community College Basketball Hall of Fame.

Brian Pearison - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Brian Pearison enters his first year as assistant coach for the Holy Cross men's basketball program. Pearison has coached on the high school and college level for 10 years.
 
Previously, Pearison served under Randy DeShone at Jimtown as an assistant for two years. During those two years they won a State Championship in 2004. Pearison also coached at Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) for 6 years as an Associate Head Coach where he served under Micah Schrewsberry and Denny Parks.
 
In addition, he directed and helped run several basketball camps in the area including Jimtown, IUSB, and Eastlake Athletic Club.

Michael Weathers Image
Michael Weathers - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
With a background that includes teaching, coaching, business director in both public & private sectors, law and accounting, Michael is adept at areas of expertise others may shy away from. Additionally, Michael was elected to public office on two occasions, in Wisconsin & Michigan and named to the State Utility Board in Wisconsin.

 

Weathers attended Suomi College (now Finlandia University) and then Michigan State University with a double major of Business Administration & Education. He later attended Wake Forest University where he obtained his LL.A. , and recently, attended the University of St Thomas, where he was in the first initial graduating class of the Archbishop Harry J Flynn Catechetical Institute in the Master's program in Catechetical Studies.

 

Additionally, Michael played basketball while at Suomi College, and later worked for legendary Jud Heathcote & the Michigan State basketball program while he was in East Lansing. Weathers also coached 7 years in high school basketball & AAU, amassing a 93-33 win-loss record (74%) and 4 years of high school & travel baseball, with a 101-29 win-loss record (77%).
   
He is the proud father of a son, Bryant Alan (Stacy) who resides in Chassell, MI and is currently the Assistant Director for Student Activities at Michigan Technological University and a daughter, Laura Beth who is a Music Education senior-to-be at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI.
