January Athlete of the Month - Baysia Cox
The January athlete of the month is Baysia Cox (Niles, MI). Baysia is a 6-3 starting center for the women's basketball team.
During the month of January, Baysia has played terrific basketball against #2 Saint Xavier University, Robert Morris College, Rochester College, Purdue University Calumet, and Indiana University- South Bend. She totaled 81 points and pulled down 32 rebounds.
Against #2 St. Xavier, Baysia recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. She followed that performance by dropping in 24 points against Robert Morris. In the month of January, Baysia is averaging 17 points. She also ranks #23 in total blocks. She had a season high 4 blocks against Purdue-Calumet. Most recently Baysia recorded 22 points and 9 rebounds in a win over IU-Northwest. She also had four steals.
"Baysia Cox has been a real pleasure to coach this season," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger. "Her work ethic and great attitude have made my coaching this season truly enjoyable. Baysia has unlimited potential on and off the court. When people talk to me about Baysia Cox it's more about Baysia Cox the person than the basketball player. In Baysia's short time on our campus she has started to build a legacy that will last a lifetime."
The Saints have five remaining games in the month of February, three of which are at home. They will be playing Robert Morris College on the 13th, Indiana University Northwest on the 16th, and Olivet Nazarene University on the 20th.
December Athlete of the Month - Tyler Schmatz
The December athlete of the month is
Tyler Schmatz (South Bend, IN). Tyler is a forward for the Saints Hockey team. In four games this month Tyler has recorded 4 goals and six assists. On December 4th and 5th the Saints split a weekend series with Xavier University. Schmatz tallied 2 goals and 4 assists in a 6 - 1 victory on Friday night. He followed up the next day with 2 more assists in a 6 - 8 loss.
The Saints traveled to Chicago to take on Robert Morris University the following weekend. Schmatz put in two more goals as the Saints once again split the series with the Eagles.
The Hockey team will be back in action at home to host Butler University, Robert Morris University, and Indiana-Purdue Ft. Wayne January 22nd-24th in the Holy Cross College Tournament held at the Ice Box.

November Athlete of The Month - J.T. Breveard
The November athlete of the month is
Justin Breveard (South Bend, IN). J.T. played an outstanding game against Huntington University on November 17th. Shooting 100% from the free throw line and 71.4% from beyond the three point arc, J.T. had a career high 29 points. He also played great basketball during the Bethel College Classic on November 13th and 14th.
Holy Cross captured their first win in the tournament opener against Marian University. Breveard led the Saints with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Playing against #3 Bethel College, J.T. delivered a great game with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

October Athlete of the Month - Regina Slonkosky
The October athlete of the month is Regina Slonkosky (Minster, OH). Her hometown is Minster, Ohio and she is currently a sophomore at Holy Cross. The best way to describe Regina would be: a true competitor. As part of the women's golf team, she displays both integrity and enthusiasm for the sport.
At the CCAC conference golf tournament on October 3rd, Regina was struggling with the effect of the weather conditions and hitting just over par on some holes. With a smile still on her face, she placed third in the tournament. Her score was 84 and this is currently her best score of the year. Looking forward to the spring season, Regina will continue to improve her game.
The September athlete of the month is
Ashleigh Lemp (Osceola, IN). In two starts for the women's soccer team, Lemp has already recorded 28 saves.
Most recently she stepped up against St. Mary's college as the Saints were forced to play with only 8 players in the second half. In her first start of the season, she had 17 saves in 90:00 minutes of action.
"Ashleigh Lemp represents everything we want from a women's soccer player at HCC," said Head Coach Carlos Reynolds. "Her commitment to built a strong soccer program, her work ethic, dedication on and off the field, and knowledge of the game has no comparison. Since the start of our season, I have been approached by coaches from other teams, friends, fans in general to tell me what a great goalie she is. Ashleigh has earned the respect of her soccer mates and her leadership has taken this team to the direction we want."
