Sports Information Director/Head Coach Lacrosse/Club Sport Coordinator

Typical Schedule: This is a full time position.   

Purpose: The Sports Information Director directs and coordinates the flow of information to the news media and fans by serving as the primary point contact for Saints Athletics. This individual maintains statistical records, writes press releases and feature stories that pertain to Holy Cross athletics, its players and coaches.  He/she ensures that the rules and regulations of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), the Great Lakes Lacrosse League (GLLL), and the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) are met.

The Club Sport Coordinator/Head Lacrosse Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics on any administrative needs for the club sports.  With the lacrosse and hockey programs becoming self-sufficient under the pay for play model, proper accounting and management of these programs is necessary to obtain the sustainability needed.

Essential Job Duties:

Sports Information Director

Essential Job Duties:

  • Maintain rosters, schedules, season logs and statistics
  • Provide accurate results and statistics following games
  • Actively promote Saints Athletic events to local media
  • Coordinate the compilation of game and season statistics, including the training of those working with StatCrew statistical software
  • Monitor sport progress, maintain athletic records and archives
  • Write, edit, and produce athletic publications such as media guides, programs, brochures, schedule cards, and other marketing materials
  • Update and add to the college's athletic website; Schedule interviews between coaches or student-athletes and the media
  • Collect biographical information from players and coaches
  • Photograph (or be able to provide photographs) of teams, individuals, and coaches
  • Provide supervision in the press box, on press row, and at the official scoring table to maintain accuracy and integrity of game management personnel and to provide a non-partisan working environment
  • Serve as a spokesman for the athletic department; respond to general media questions
  • Monitor and update Saints Social Media outlets
  • Create promotional materials to release to local and social media
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Head Coach Men's Lacrosse
Essential Job Duties:

  • Instruct/coach student athletes
  • Conduct practices
  • Schedule games
  • Arrange team transportation
  • Develop and manage a team budget based off of a "pay for play" model
  • Order equipment as needed to serve the needs of the program
  • Maintain accurate inventory of uniforms and equipment
  • Promote the men's lacrosse program in the college and community
  • Promote the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character program

  • Recruit Holy Cross College caliber students as athletes
  • Develop the leadership of assistant coaches, and captains
  • Serve as an example of faith based leadership while demanding appropriate conduct at all times from athletes.

Club Sport Coordinator
Essential Job Duties:

  • Assist in the management of the club sports of Lacrosse and Men's Hockey
  • Maintain accurate accounting of student athlete player fees in conjunction with the business office
  • Serve as a point person for our Hockey Board
  • Manage lacrosse and hockey team budgets

Minimum Education, Skills, and Ability:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • At least two years' experience in sports information preferred
  • Knowledge and experience using email and administrative websites          
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible work schedule including, evenings, and weekends as may be necessary to serve the needs of the college 
  • Ability to foresee potential problems/issues and provide solutions
  • Highly motivated person who is task oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team atmosphere

Physical Demands:

  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing; occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Ability to lift and carry more than 40lbs.

Head Coach - Men's Hockey

Typical Schedule: Part time as needed.  Typical for this position is evenings, and weekends according to the practice and game schedule of the student athletes. 

Purpose: The selected candidate will insure the team operates and conducts themselves within the ideals and goals set forth by Holy Cross College and the rules and regulations of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
