After two consecutive impressive outings, freshman starting pitcher Nick Munger has been named this week's Holy Cross athlete of the week.
Munger opened up the week with a complete game shutout against Illinois Tech where he achieved his first career win as a member of the Saints baseball team. In the outing, Munger tossed all seven innings while allowing just five hits, no runs and striking out two. Following his first career victory, Munger responded with another seven inning performance where he allowed just two hits, one run and a season-high six strikeouts as the Saints knocked off Calumet St. Joseph by a final score of 4-1.
Munger (2-3, 4.06 ERA) has provided a solid presence at the back-end of the Saints starting rotation as the Saints sit at 10-5 in CCAC action, ranking them second in the North Division.
