# James Hafley
Assistant Coach
1st Season

Coach Hafley enters his first season as a member of the men's basketball coaching staff.

Prior to joining the Saints staff, coach Hafley has served as the co-founder and director of operations of Shoreline Regional Basketball. He also served as the head coach of the 2012 17U team.

After playing at Lake Michigan College, Hafley began his coaching career as a student assistant coach at Henderson State University (NCAA Division II). During those two seasons (2001-2003), HSU posted a record of 52-10 while advancing to the NCAA tournament each year.

After graduating from Henderson State in 2003, Hafley served as the head freshman boys basketball coach at Lakeshore High School for 1 season and the varsity assistant coach for 2 seasons under Sean Schroeder. The Lancers posted no less than 14 wins in each of those years. The 2006-2007 squad was a perfect 20-0 in the regular season and advanced to the Class B state semi-finals.

From 2007-2009, Hafley served as the head JV and varsity assistant at New Buffalo High School under Darrin Fatter. During those two seasons, the Bison varsity squad finished with a 36-10 mark while winning two Red Arrow Conference Championships and a Class C district title in 2009. It was the first district championship for New Buffalo since 1997, a team on which Hafley was a player on.

During the 2009-2010 season, Hafley served as the head boys varsity coach at Lawrence High School. The Tigers finished with a mark of 16-5 while capturing the SAC South Division title in Hafley's first season as a varsity head coach. The Tigers were also successful in the classroom as they earned BCAM academic all-state recognition while posting a 3.17 team GPA.

In the 2010-2011 season, Hafley served as a volunteer assistant coach at Indiana University-South Bend (NAIA). The Titans under the direction of first year coach Chad Tapp increased their previous season win total from 7 to 11.

In 2011-2012 Hafley returned to Lakeshore as a varsity assistant coach on a team that had 9 varsity players that have been in the Shoreline program.  The Lancers had a historic season capturing a share of the Big 16 West Division, a Class B District championship,  regional championship, and advancing to the Class B state championship game before falling to Lansing Sexton.

Coach Hafley also serves as an Intervention Facilitator at Buchanan High School. He's currently working on his Masters in Educational Leadership at Indiana University-South Bend.
