CCAC Releases Postseason Awards
Chicago, Ill. The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced their men's basketball 2021-2022 All-Conference Awards. Ryan Black was named to the CCAC All-Conference Honorable Mention team, while Nash Hostetler and Justin O'Neal were awarded to the CCAC All Freshman team. The Holy Cross College men's basketball team received the Champions of Character team award.
Black, originally from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, transferred to Holy Cross College from Southwest Mississippi Community College. This season, he led the Saints in scoring at 14.1 points per game. The 6'2 guard was third on the team at 4.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 38% from three. Ryan's best game of the year came in the Saints victory over St. Ambrose University, where he posted 29 points on 9/14 shooting from the field, while pulling down 15 rebounds.
Hostetler, from Dublin, Ohio, prepped at Dublin Coffman High School. He started 23 of 28 games in his rookie season, while averaging 9.2 points per game. The 6'4 guard was second on the team in 3-pt field goals made at 57, while shooting 33% from beyond the arc. Nash's best statistical game came in the win over Andrews University, where he scored 17 points, pulled down 5 rebounds, while shooting 64% from the field.
O'Neal graduated from Dunbar High School located in Dayton, Ohio. He appeared in all 30 games for the Saints while averaging 8.4 points per game. The 6'4 wing shot 46% from the field and pulled down 3.7 rebounds per game. Justin recorded his first collegiate double-double at Roosevelt University with 22 points on 57% shooting from the field and grabbing 13 rebounds.
The Holy Cross College men's basketball team received the CCAC Champions of Character team award. Voted on by the league's coaches, the award is given to the team that best embodies the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. This is the first time in the Holy Cross College athletic department history for a team to receive this honor. The NAIA's Champions of Character initiative provides training to ensure student-athletes know, do and value the right things in all areas of life. Champions of Character connects with the community throughout the year, annually impacting more than 30,000 individuals through outreach activities to local schools and youth sports programs.

The Holy Cross College Saints compete in eight intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past ten years, Holy Cross has produced 169 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honors and 91 All-Conference members.
