Saints Earn 94–84 Road Win at Calumet
WHITING, Ind. — The Holy Cross College men's basketball team put together a strong all-around performance Saturday afternoon, knocking off Calumet College of St. Joseph 94–84 at the Rittenmeyer Center.
The Saints (7–12, 3–9 CCAC) responded after an early deficit and used a balanced offensive attack to outscore the Crimson Wave in both halves. Holy Cross led 45–41 at the break and maintained control in the second half, stretching the lead to as many as 14 points late in the game.
Joey Garwood delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including three triples, while adding 6 rebounds. Donovan Waleskowski finished with 13 points and a team-best 9 rebounds, providing a strong interior presence for the Saints.
AJ Roseman orchestrated the offense efficiently, tallying 10 points and a game-high 10 assists with zero turnovers, while Karl Birgisson chipped in 10 points and 6 boards. Callaghan Weatherspoon added 8 points and 7 assists, helping Holy Cross rack up 21 assists as a team.
Holy Cross shot 50.7 percent from the field and capitalized at the free-throw line, knocking down 19-of-25 attempts. The Saints also won the rebounding battle 34–26 and converted 15 points off turnovers to keep momentum on their side.
Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 28, when the Saints travel to Judson University for a CCAC matchup. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m.
