Saints Drop Heartbreaker in Season Finale, 82–79
The Holy Cross men's basketball team closed out the 2025–26 season Saturday afternoon with a tough 82–79 loss in a back-and-forth battle inside McKenna Arena.
The game featured 8 ties and 9 lead changes, with neither team able to create much separation. After trailing 33–31 at halftime, the Saints erupted offensively in the second half, shooting an impressive 60% from the field and 53.8% from three-point range over the final 20 minutes.
Donovan Mukes led Holy Cross with 19 points, going 5-of-10 from the floor and adding 4 rebounds. Jayden Sanders and Drew Adzia each finished with 14 points, with Sanders pulling down a team-high 8 rebounds.
Callaghan Weatherspoon added 8 points off the bench, knocking down 2 three-pointers, while Donovan Waleskowski also contributed 8. Karl Birgisson chipped in 7 points, and Asher Puhalski added three. Beau Barhams finished with 4 points, and Joe Kelly scored 2.
Holy Cross dominated bench scoring, outscoring their opponent 42–24, and won the rebounding battle 33–29. However, 13 points off turnovers proved costly in the narrow three-point defeat. The final basket came with just three seconds remaining, sealing the outcome in a game that was tightly contested until the very end.
