Freshman Derek Darnell Earns CCAC Newcomer of the Year Honors for Saints Men’s Golf

The top individual award for Holy Cross College Men's Golf went to freshman Derek Darnell (Amarillo, Texas), who was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year following an outstanding first season with the Saints. Darnell averaged a 76.9 over 20 rounds during the 2025 campaign, with his best finish coming at the Saints Invite at Rock Hollow this past fall where he placed fourth overall.

Darnell was the lone member of the Saints men's golf team to earn postseason recognition this year, a testament to the hard work and consistency he displayed throughout the season. While he was the only Saint represented on the postseason awards list, the Holy Cross community remains incredibly proud of the entire team and all they accomplished this year both on and off the course.
