Notre Dame, Ind. - Holy Cross men's soccer junior forward Lukman Ahmed-Shaibu and junior midfielder Jonghyun Son earned all conference recognition for their accomplishments this past season. Both players are in their first year with the Saints program. Ahmed-Shaibu was named to the First Team All-CCAC and Son was named to the Second Team All-CCAC.
Ahmed-Shaibu missed some time with injury this season but played in 16 games for the Saints starting 11 of those games. Ahmed-Shaibu led the Saints with seven goals on fifty shots with 50% of his shots being placed on target this year. Lukman scored two game winning goals defeating Huntington and Calumet-St.Joseph. Ahmed-Shaibu was the Saints most dangerous offensive threat through the season as all teams committed a defender specifically to mark him all over the field.
Son started in all 20 games this season showing durability and consistency throughout the year. Son led the Saints with four assists and was tied for second in goals with five. Son owned a deadly accurate free kick shot as he scored four of his five goals from free kicks outside the eighteen yard box.
