Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College Men's Soccer team went toe-to-toe with nationally ranked No. 10 Bethel University on Wednesday night at Saints Field, ultimately falling 1-0 in a hard-fought contest.
The lone goal of the evening came in the 27th from Bethel. From that moment forward, the Saints rose to the challenge, keeping the Pilots off the scoreboard for the remaining 64 minutes of play.
Goalkeeper Logan Kelly was a standout in net, recording 11 saves against 23 Bethel shots, frustrating the Pilots' attack and giving Holy Cross a chance until the final whistle. The Saints defense, anchored by consistent play from the backline, hurt Bethel's pressure and turned away numerous set-piece opportunities.
Though Holy Cross managed just 4 shots on the evening, they pushed forward late, forcing Bethel's back line to defend until the very end. The Saints' resilience and energy kept the home crowd engaged from start to finish.
With the loss, Holy Cross moves to 2-2-0 on the season, while Bethel improves to 4-1-1.
The Saints will look to bounce back this game when they continue their home match ups against Rochester Christian on Saturday at 12PM.
