Smith Joins 1,000 Point Club

Notre Dame, Ind. Holy Cross College women's basketball player Jordyn Smith recently notched her 1,000th career point. Smith eclipsed the mark during the women's basketball win over the St. Xavier University on Saturday; she now sits at 1,015 total points. She is the ninth women's basketball player in program history to achieve this goal.

Smith, a junior from Granger, Indiana, is averaging 12.1 points per game for her Holy Cross career. The 5'6 guard has appeared in 84 games for the Saints, while starting in 83 of those. This season she is averaging 11.6 points per game and leads the Saints in minutes per game at 31.8. Smith has helped guide the Saints to a 14-12 overall record and an 11-7 mark in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season.

"It was a great moment to see Jordyn get her 1,000th career point and her teammates embracing her," said head women's basketball coach Tom Robbins. "Besides scoring all those points, she has also been moving up the career assists statistical category and has currently surpassed 4th place on the list. The best thing about Jordyn is that she has accomplished those things by just trying to win games. She is such a competitor and will do anything she has to do, whether it's scoring a lot, helping her teammates score, or getting stops on defense."

The Saints will be back in action Wednesday, February 21 when they travel to CCAC foe Trinity Christian College. Tipoff is set for 6:30pm.
