Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season at Rumble at Rend Lake

Rend Lake, Illinois | March 30–31, 2026

The Holy Cross Women's Golf team opened its Spring 2026 season this week at the Rumble at Rend Lake, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University. The Saints traveled five hours south and were greeted with sunny, warm conditions at Rend Lake Golf Course in Whittington, Illinois.

The course presented a straightforward layout featuring large greens, with several creeks adding strategic challenges throughout the round. However, conditions intensified quickly. Monday's opening round brought sustained winds of nearly 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph.

Despite limited outdoor preparation during the winter months, the Saints rose to the occasion and battled through the demanding conditions.

Junior Eva De La Rosa delivered a standout performance in Round 1, carding an impressive 81—her collegiate personal best. Her round was highlighted by scoring no double bogeys and avoiding three-putts throughout the day.

"I was just feeling calm and confident the whole round," said De La Rosa.

After an even windier second round on Tuesday, the Saints encountered some scoring challenges and ultimately finished third out of four teams.
Sophomore Bianca Huizar led the team on the leaderboard, breaking into the top 10 with a 7th-place individual finish.
Holy Cross will return to action next week as they host a tournament on April 9–10 at Knollwood Country Club.

Go Saints!
