Notre Dame, Ind. — The Holy Cross College men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 match against Rochester Christian this afternoon at Saints Field.
The Saints were on the front foot for much of the contest, firing 22 total shots compared to their opponent's 9. Nathan Sanchez led the attack with 8 shots, including 4 on goal, while Wyatt Kernohan, Nikolas Panayiotou, and Andrew Koshakji each added efforts that forced the Rochester keeper into action.
Despite the pressure, Rochester Christian broke through midway through the second half to score the game's lone goal. The Saints battled until the final whistle, generating late chances in the box, but could not find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Isaias Rubio anchored the defense with 4 saves across the full 90 minutes.
With the result, Holy Cross moves to 2-3-0 on the season. The Saints will look to bounce back in their next match against St. Francis (IN) on Tuesday September 16th at 7:00PM at Saints Field.
