Saints Secure Overtime Victory over USF
Joliet, Ill. The Holy Cross women's basketball team returned to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play this evening when they travel to the University of St. Francis. After the first ten minutes of action, the Saints trailed 20-17. In the second quarter, USF was able to build on their lead late, as Holy Cross would trail 36-30. Coming out of the break, Holy Cross would outscore St. Francis 30-13 in the third quarter to gain a 60-49 lead entering the final quarter. The Saints would control that lead most of the final quarter, but USF was able to come back and tie the game up 75-75 with just over a minute to play. Both teams who have chances at the end of regulation, but the get would go into overtime knotted 75-75. An early made basketball by USF got them on the board first in OT, but a 3-pt FG by Lauren Morris would allow the Saints to regain the lead. Holy Cross would never look back, as they would outscore St. Francis 23-13 in overtime to come away with the 98-88 victory. Holy Cross improves to 12-11 and 9-6 in conference play while USF stands at 8-15 and 4-11.
