Seven Women's Basketball Players Named Scholar-Athletes

Kansas City, Mo. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently announced their 2024 Daktronics Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes. Holy Cross College had seven women's basketball student-athletes named Scholar-Athletes of the 887 recipients nationwide.

In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended one full year at the institution.

Senior Lauren Morris, juniors Kayliana Hammel, Jordyn Smith, Anna Tallent, and sophomores Carly Spradling, Elizabeth Edmonds, and Audrey Tallent were named 2024 Daktronics NAIA Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes. Lauren Morris earned her third Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award, while Jordyn Smith and Anna Tallent received their second honors.

Lauren Morris, from Fishers, Indiana, started in 28 of the 29 games for the Saints this season. The 5'4 guard averaged 10.8 points while shooting 41.4% from the field. She was also awarded Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Conference Honorable Mention

Kayliana Hammel, from Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger High School, was second on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game. The 5'7 guard appeared in all 30 games this season, with 29 starts.

Jordyn Smith from local Penn High School was tabbed CCAC Honorable Mention All-Conference. The 5'6 point guard scored 11.4 points per game while dishing out 4.2 assists per game.

Anna Tallent, originally from Plainfield, Indiana, completed her third season with the Holy Cross College women's basketball program. She appeared in14 games for the Saints this season.

Elizabeth Edmonds, from Argos, Indiana, averaged 3.0 points per game, having appeared in 27 contests.

Carly Spradling prepped at Northwest High School in Canal Fulton, Ohio. The 5'10 forward appeared in 28 games for the Saints and averaged 3.1 points per game.

Audrey Tallent, from Plainfield, Indiana, played in 20 games this season and averaged 2.8 points per game.
