Saints Power Past Michigan-Dearborn for First Win of the Season
The Holy Cross College women's basketball team earned a strong home victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Michigan-Dearborn 76–60 inside McKenna Arena. The Saints controlled the game from start to finish, leading all four quarters and stretching the margin to as many as 26 points late in the third.
Holy Cross put together an efficient offensive night, shooting 43.1% from the field and knocking down 11 three-pointers as a team. Five different Saints finished in double figures, showcasing the balanced attack.
Lilly Toppen led Holy Cross with 14 points, connecting on four threes while adding 4 rebounds and 1 steal.
Sincere Coleman-Fran delivered an all-around performance with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists, anchoring the Saints on both ends.
Brock Bittermann, Allie Caldwell, and Audrey Tallent each added 11 points, helping keep the Saints' offense rolling throughout the afternoon.
The Saints' depth also stepped up, contributing 18 bench points, highlighted by Malea Steele's 9 points on perfect 3-for-3 shooting from the floor. Laney Hawkins added 4 points, while Kaiden Hanley chipped in 5 points off the bench.
Holy Cross dominated the rebounding battle 44–37, including 12 offensive boards, allowing them to create second-chance opportunities throughout the game. Defensively, the Saints forced 9 turnovers and held Michigan-Dearborn to just 7.1% shooting from beyond the arc.
With the win, the Saints improve to 1–3 on the season and look to build momentum heading into their next matchup against Governors State on Wednesday November 12th. Tipoff is set for 5:30!
