The Holy Cross women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4–3 victory over Goshen (IN) on March 7, rallying behind a strong performance in singles play.
Goshen opened the match by sweeping all three doubles contests to take the early advantage. The pairs of Leah Gonzales- Edwards and Anna Vanderhyde as well as Virginie Francois and Sofia Rocha battled in their matches but ultimately fell as the Maple Leafs secured the doubles point.
The Saints responded in singles competition, winning four of the six matches to claim the team victory. Viktoria Savvidou led the charge at the No. 1 position with a 7–5, 6–1 win. Leah Gonzales- Edwards followed with a dominant 6–1, 6–3 victory at No. 2 singles.
Holy Cross continued to build momentum at No. 3, where Sofia Rocha earned a 7–5, 6–2 win, and Virginie Francois added another point with a convincing 6–2, 6–4 victory at the No. 5 spot.
Goshen picked up two singles wins, but the Saints' four singles victories proved enough to overcome the early doubles deficit and secure the 4–3 team win.
